What sites show up if you type "S" into your browser's address bar?
Not surprisingly, but the first thing that comes up when I type "S" is http://support.typepad.com, the TypePad Knowledge Base. Since I answer a lot of TypePad help tickets in a day and almost all of them get at least one link to a Knowledge Base article, I am on that site a lot. And I do mean a lot. It's cool, though, because my co-workers and I have written all of the articles in there and our users always find it useful.
The other thing that comes up the most is search results that I've used Winzy to get. Since you get points for each Winzy search and can win prizes (I've gotten a few Amazon.com gift certificates), I usually get to a site by going to Winzy first, even if I already know the URL for the site.
Sweet! One of my referrals on Winzy just won a $5 Amazon.com gift certificate, so I won one too! I've only won points on Winzy up until now, so it's nice to get a real prize for once.
If you haven't already signed up, what are you waiting for? Free prizes and sweepstakes just for using a search engine. That's better than Google has to offer!
Don't forget you can also sign up at Blingo too. I've won about $60 in iTunes gift certificates, some movie tickets, a $25 gift card, and - my biggest prize - a $150 gift card when someone I referred won an iPod Nano.
Back in April of 2005, I signed up for Blingo, a search engine that allows you to win prizes on random searches. Since then, I've won a few movie tickets, $90 worth of iTunes gift certificates, $25 Visa gift card, and a $150 gift card. Not bad at all, considering I would have needed to do those searches anyway.
Today, Nina tipped me off on a new, similar service, Winzy. Winzy also does random prizes - cash, iPods, Amazon gift certificates, etc. - but they also give you points that enter you into a drawing for a monthly prize. This month's prize is $500.
Since Blingo limits you to ten searches a day and two prizes a month, it sounds like Winzy would be good to use after your searches or once you win your limit of monthly prizes. After all, if you have to make web searches, you might as well have a chance to win something!
